MANILA, Philippines - Culinary students of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Manila campus brought home a bounty of awards during this year’s Philippine Culinary Cup at the SMX Convention Center. The students and their chefs collected a total of four silver medals and nine bronze medals. Some of the categories in this year’s competition did not give out gold medals, making the silver medal the highest award.
The silver medalists in these categories were: chef Arvi Christopher Agra and Cyrodonn Domingo, for Sousvide; Gerald Garigade, Angelica Calamanan and Oriel Panganiban, coached by chef Redd Agustin, for Filipino; Jamie Gonzales, coached by chef Clyden San Pedro, for Plated Dessert; and Timothy Faller, coached by chef Dan Basilio, for Dress The Cake.
The bronze medalists were: chef Vince Patron, for US Pork; chef Jan Maverick Co, for US Poultry; Paul Cruz, coached by chef Agra, also for US Poultry; Alyssa Santos, also coached by chef Agra, for Local Fish/Seafood; Anna Octaviano, coached by chef Agustin, also for Local Fish/Seafood; Mark Sanchez, coached by chef Joel Peter Tanjimenez, for Pasta; Jay Pastor, Harlem Mercado, Paul Legaspi, for Filipino; chef Allen Camacho, for Pastry Showpiece; and Julius Conde, coached by chef Basilio, for Fantasy Dessert.
