Kumon for the future

-

MANILA, Philippines - The graduation song has been playing here and there once again as students with elated faces march their way to their seats for the ceremony. Lucky are the children who have reached this phase, but luckier are those who have experienced the Kumon Method for they have not only mastered two of the most important subjects at school – math and reading – but also gained the additional knowledge of independence, discipline, confidence, and good learning habits, making them ready for the big step ahead. At Kumon Math Program, students are taught that math is everywhere to help them see the subject in a different light — helping them gain confidence whenever they see numbers. While developing the fundamentals, the Kumon Method also considers the individual ability of each child. And as they gain confidence in their ability to answer one math problem to another, they can soon say, “Hey, I can do this! I thought I hated math but now, I can answer these problems!” There is more to reading than merely being able to recite and pronounce words, phrases, and sentences correctly. Reading paves the way for learning by opening doors to new worlds that may be impossible to traverse and by inspiring ideas unsought of elsewhere. In the Kumon Reading Program, students progress in small steps and still at their own pace to effectively prepare them for reading a broad range of texts. As children are exposed to more information about everything through reading, they begin to accumulate more knowledge, improve their overall understanding of things, and develop their creativity and imagination to think about what lies ahead. As they pick this habit up, they can continue to enjoy learning throughout their lives. With the foundation built from a father’s love for his son, Kumon founder Toru Kumon believed that students from all walks of life are capable of learning and improving on their own while gaining independence, discipline, confidence, and good learning habits. A global method that is now available here in the Philippines, Kumon is fortified with 50 years of consistency, breaking through all kinds of borders — be it varying languages, lifestyles, educational systems, and cultures.
