MANILA, Philippines - A graduate from the University of the Philippines topped the 2013 Bar Examinations, the Supreme Court announced on Tuesday.
Associate Justice Arturo Brion said Nielson Pangan led the passers with a rating of 85.8 percent. A total of 1,174 passed the exams out of 5,292 takers, translating to a 22.18 percent passing rate.
The other topnotchers include:
2nd: Mark Xavier Oyales (UP) and Dianna Wilwayco (Ateneo de Manila University) - 85.45 percent
3rd: Rudy Ortea (University of Batangas) - 84.2 percent
4th: Eden Catherine Mopia (UP) - 85.04 percent
5th: Tercel Mercado-Gephart (University of San Carlos) - 83.9 percent
6th: Manuel Elijah Sarausad (University of Cebu) - 83.8 percent
7th: Katrine Suyat (San Beda College-Manila) - 83.75 percent
8th: Michael Tiu, Jr. (UP) - 83.7 percent
9th: Marjorie Ivory Fulgueras (ADMU) - 83.65 percent
10th: Cyril Arnesto (UP) - 83.6 percent

Brion said the passers will take their oath on April 28, 2014, 2 p.m. at the Philippine International Convention Center.
