Banat Opinyon

August 1 is National Girlfriends Day

SENIOR CITIZEN - A.M. Dela Serna - Banat

Kini sumala sa Chinese calendar. Unsa man ni? Matud sa Google: “National Girlfriends Day celebrates the special bond of friendship between girls, whether sisters or mothers, classmates or co-workers." Sa ato pa, dili kinhanglan nga mag-uyab. Ug alang nako, dili kinahanglan nga Chinses ka, aron mag-celebrate Girlfriends Day.

“In one study, researchers found the people born in summer months including August were significantly more likely to consider themselves lucky.”

By the way, ang senior citizens population sa atong nasud karon niabot na og approximately 91.2 million, nga kon nagkahiusa lang g’yud unta kita into one organization nationwide, sama sa AARP sa America, makapadaug na kita og Presidente inig-eleksyon. Apan, it is impossible man kono to unite the Filipinos.

Hinuon, ang Google nagkanayon: “While unifying all 9.2 million Filipino senior citizens into a single organization presents significant challenges, it is not an impossible goal.” So, mahimo diay, apan kinsa man ang mo-initiate niini?

Adunay Federation of Senior Citizens' Associations of the Philippines (FSCAP), apan walay klaro nga nationwide membership. Ikaw, member ka ba? Dunay Coalition of Services of the Elderly (COSE), nga sama sa FSCAP, sila-sila ra didto sa kaulohan ang naglihok, kon naglihok man.

Unya dunay USCWAP kon United Senior Citizens Welfare Association of the Philippines. Apan, mao gihapon, dili nationwide nga pundok. Kita dinhi, kutob lang gyud sa mga barangay senior citizens’ associations nga wala usab mahiusa, kundili nagkatibulaag ug nag-iyahay. Tatak Pinoy.

Niay akong i-share with you, kining usa ka 92-year old nga babaye, nisulod sa nursing home, nisugilon nga sa 87 years old pa siya, nitungha sa kolehiyo, ug naka-graduate g’yud.

Ania ang pipila ka inspiring thoughts nga iyang gipaambit: “Every day is a gift.

As long as my eyes open, I’ll focus on the new day and all the happy memories I’ve stored.

“Old age is like a bank account … you withdraw from what you put in. So deposit a lot of happiness in the bank of your memories,” aron daghan ka og kalipay nga ma-withdraw.

Here’s how to be happy: 1. Free your heart from hatred, bisan sa imong mga kontra . 2. Free your mind from worries, dili bitaw ni makasulbad sa problema. 3 Live simply. 4. Give more (lisud ni) 5 .Expect  less.

Dugang pa:‘There is a big difference between growing older (which is mandatory) and growing up (which is up to us). Ug sa ato nang gibalikbalik dinhi, ‘the difference between a good day and a bad day, is our attitude.’ So, it’s up to us, inigmata nato sa buntag, if it’s going to be a good bad day, or a bad day.
