PSN Opinyon

I am proud of our AFP and PNP

The Armed Forces of the Philippines is the Protector of the People and the State. Its goal is to secure the sovereignty of the State and the integrity of the national territory.”

Ang massive graft and corruption na walang humpay na umiiral ngayon ay maari ng ituring at pagpasyahan ng AFP at PNP na clear and present evil that they should protect the Filipino people. They can withdraw support and it will not even be extra-constitutional but intra-constitutional because they can do it pursuant to the protector of the people clause of the constitution.

Ayon kay Fr. Joaquin Bernas the AFP can lawfully overthrow an abusive regime. Ito ang sinasabi niya sa page 59 ng kanyang libro “The 1987 Constitution of the Philippines, a Commentary,” Rex Bookstore, 1999 edition: “The second and third sentences of Section 3 (of Article 2) originally discussed by the 1986 Constitutional Commission under the General Provision, are meant to express the philosophy that underlies the existence of armed forces. The two sentences, however, also yield a meaning which was not articulated during the commission debates. When one reads them in the light of the unsuccessful military coups of 1987 and the reasons given for them, especially in the light of the successful coup of February 1986 which became known as the February Revolution, one cannot escape the conclusion that the armed forces can be a legitimate instrument for the overthrow of a civilian government that has ceased to be a servant of the people.”
