Happy God-blessed New Year to us all!!!

PERSPECTIVE - Cherry Piquero Ballescas - The Freeman

May all of us start, move on confidently through this new year just as we have always done for the past years: to always believe and never forget that we are all loved, unconditionally, by God, now and forever!

“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you keep my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love” (John 15:9–10).

May God’s joy continue to accompany us all through this new year and all the coming years to come!

“These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full” (John 15:11).

Through 2026, rather than our own fear, may God’s care and peace be in our hearts!

May these bible verses be with us again through all our days and years!

“Cast all your cares upon God for He cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7)

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you,not to harm you, plans to give you hope. a future” (Jeremiah 29:11)

“Commit your way to the LORD; trust in Him, and He will do it” (Psalm 37:5)
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer, petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts, your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7)

For this new year, again, let us always remember-

“Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, the body more than clothes?

Look at the birds of the air: They do not sow, reap, gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” (Matthew 6:25-26)

Shall we also unite in praying these intentions of Pope Leo XIV for:

“January: that praying with the word of God be nourishment for our lives, a source of hope in our communities, helping us to build a more fraternal, missionary Church.

February: that children suffering from incurable diseases and their families receive the necessary medical care/support, never losing strength and hope.

March: that nations move toward effective disarmament, particularly nuclear disarmament, and that world leaders choose the path of dialogue, diplomacy instead of violence.

April: for priests going through moments of crisis in their vocation, that they may find the accompaniment they need, that communities may support them with understanding, prayer.

May: that everyone, from large producers to small consumers, be committed to avoid wasting food, to ensure that everyone has access to quality food.

June: that sports be an instrument of peace/encounter/dialogue among cultures/nations, that they promote values such as respect, solidarity, and personal growth.

July: for the respect/protection of human life in all its stages, recognizing it as a gift from God.

August: that in large cities often marked by anonymity/loneliness, we find new ways to proclaim the Gospel, discovering creative paths to build community.

September: for a just, sustainable management of water, a vital resource, so that everyone may have equal access to it.

October: that mental health ministry be established throughout the Church, helping to overcome the stigma/discrimination of persons with mental illnesses.

November: for the proper use of wealth, that not succumbing to the temptation of selfishness, it may always be put at the service of the common good and solidarity of those who have less.

December: for families experiencing the absence of a mother/or father, that they may find support and accompaniment in the Church, and help and strength in the faith during difficult times.”
