Magkaisa this November!
Can the diversified protesting groups this November unite, even just for a minute or more, and agree to protest about common issues as one people, as Filipinos, as one country?
Regardless of political/religious/sectoral affiliations, can the protesters coalesce, using agreed-upon common protest strategies, to present most urgent common issues afflicting our people, especially the needy poor/the marginalized?
Here are some common priority concerns among all protesting groups --no to corruption/ikulong na ang mga kurakot/end political dynasties/yes to transparency, accountability, honest/genuine servant leaders/better life for our people, our environment, our planet.
Protesters can decide on more issues, ventilate these together in a synchronized fashion, in symphony. Can all the protesting groups decide on a common time/date/course of action to ventilate these common priority issues all together, simultaneously?
All protesters can decide what protest messages to express and how to express these issues. For example, to pray/shout or chant or sing out or wave in banners, and more, but can all protesters decide to briefly unite/deliver together the same messages in similar ways at the same time/same date?
The protesters do not have to be at the same venue, may have different time schedules/strategies for their own protests.
But can all protesters decide to briefly unite together to ventilate similar issues in similar strategies at the same time and date so that the whole Philippines, all Filipinos will demonstrate a united front of protest?
Imagine the whole Philippines caught on drone as one united, protesting nation, simultaneously, with Filipinos protesting all throughout the nation, at the same time, in the same manner, with the same messages?
Imagine further if all churches will agree to accompany this united, synchronized, simultaneous nation-wide protest with the tolling of bells, and protesters agreeing to lighting a candle each, to pray/do noise barrage/shout/sing/chant/wave banners simultaneously nation-wide?
Such a synchronized national protest will go beyond any People Power ever held in this country with common protest messages loudly heard throughout our country/our borders, the rest of the world, up to the high heavens!
Surely, such a simultaneous/harmonized nation-wide protest will topple any hard wall of resistance from the corrupt/abusive just as Joshua/his army toppled Jericho’s walls?
To all Filipino protesters this November, magkaisa, be inspired by this story from Joshua 6:1-20 and claim victory!
“Now the gates of Jericho were securely barred because of the Israelites. No one went out, no one came in.
“2 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “See, I have delivered Jericho into your hands, along with its king/its fighting men. 3 March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. 4 Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. 5 When you hear them sound a long blast on the trumpets, have the whole army give a loud shout; then the wall of the city will collapse and the army will go up, everyone straight in.”
“Joshua followed the Lord’s instructions and “10 commanded the army, “Do not give a war cry, do not raise your voices, do not say a word until the day I tell you to shout. 15 On the seventh day, they got up at daybreak, marched around the city seven times in the same manner, except that on that day they circled the city seven times.
“16 The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the Lord has given you the city! 17 The city and all that is in it are to be devoted to the Lord.
“20 When the trumpets sounded, the army shouted, and at the sound of the trumpet, when the men gave a loud shout, the wall collapsed.”
