Congressmen and senators: Congenital liars or plain simpletons?

Even after Typhoon Tino, the congenital liars among our politicians persist in their hackneyed and outworn PR line that they do not know about the flood control projects in their own districts. Shame on you. Tell that to the marines. You cannot fool all the people all the time. The Filipinos may be silly, but they are not stupid.

If you are a congressman and you declare that you do not know that there are multi-billion flood control projects in your own districts, may I respectfully call you either a despicable congenital liar, or a notoriously and hopelessly incurable moronic figurehead? Either way, if you have a little self-respect left in your conscience, the most honorable option for you is to resign and disappear like Zaldy Co. Or commit hara kiri? The latest typhoon and flood have exacerbated the peoples' anger against you and your cohort contractors. Stop lying and "Mahiya Naman Kayo."

The worst is that you are simply too harebrained to delude yourself into believing that the people are too stupid and that you can fool, hoodwink and deceive all of them all the time. Perhaps you are operating under the false illusion that all the residents in your district are stupid, that they do not know that they are only being taken for a ride, that you can buy their silence with a few thousands or a few cans of sardines and a few kilos of rice. For the longest time, the people are being fooled and these crooked men and women in respectable clothing delude themselves into believing that they deserve to be called honorable.

These congressmen practically put the mayors in their district inside their pockets by bribing them with shares of their "for the boys" from the contractors. They would also bribe the local officials by bringing them to foreign junkets funded by the contractors. These local underlings and subalterns, together with their wives, girlfriends or both would be travelling to Taiwan, South Korea, Singapore and Hong Kong if they are just councilors and barangay captains, all expenses paid by the favored contractors. And to Europe if they are mayors and vice mayors. Shameless.

And these congressmen would have the gall to deny that they do not know the public works in their own districts? They have the temerity to deny that they do not know nor interfere in the bidding process. They deny that the contractors are their wedding compadres. They deny that they join the contractors and the mayors in ostentatious wedding receptions. They deny that they are lovey dovey with these favored contractors. They deny that they are in cahoots with DPWH district engineers and regional directors. They feign ignorance of the whole gamut of corruption in public works. Do they think that all people are stupid, or blind, deaf and mute?

How can you say that you do not know that a budget has been inserted for your district in the national budget, when you are a member of the House where the national appropriation act emanates? Do you expect the people to be too stupid as not to be able to discern that you have a hand in precisely bringing about that budget insertion? Do you think that the people are too illiterate so as not to understand that insertions are intentionally, knowingly and with evident premeditation, done precisely for a specific objective of favoring the town, and district concerned?

Do you ever believe that people will swallow hook, line and sinker, that great baloney, that you, the elected congressman representing that district is completely clueless that some winged angels from the Bicam mysterious committee would bless your district with billions of flood control projects out of nowhere, like manna from heaven? Well, Your Honor, tell that to the marines. We were not born yesterday. Not everyone from your districts was sleeping while you did all your magic.

Soon, your mischief and your shenanigans will be exposed, and you together with your mayors will go to a far, far place with uniformed guards and free breakfasts, lunches and dinners. Don't you ever discern that not all the people are stupid, not all the citizens can be threatened, coerced, hoodwinked, deceived or pressured into silence or managed to disappear. You cannot use the previous typhoons to justify flood controls because your district is not a sui generis. Are you following the people to believe that you have worse flooding than the urban centers and the bigger towns and districts?

To you, I respectfully say this: If you are a liar, you do not deserve to represent the decent people in your district. If you are a moron or an imbecile, then your best option is to leave your post and let the more deserving take your place. This nation is sick and tired of paying taxes to finance your lies and notorious incompetence. Save your soul by disappearing and by praying for forgiveness for your mortal sins. There is still time, although the peoples' tolerance is approaching its limits.

Do the right thing and do it now. The people are gradually unmasking who you really are. Before it is too late, redeem yourselves. Take the high road. Choose what is right and what is decent.
