The needy vs the greedy
Finally, we are on our second day without rains.
Finally, the heavens sent the sun which we pray will linger long enough for the floods to clear – especially including the trail of corruption/abuse that caused the floods that harmed lives/ people/communities/the whole country.
May those in need, who wallowed in the floods, be comforted with justice rendered swiftly we pray to the corrupt, swallowed by their unlimited wants and greed.
The continuing recent rains and floods cleared and exposed the long-known/unresolved glaring, expanding gap between the needy and the greedy.
Who are the needy?
Sila ang lubog sa baha.
These are the millions who, each day, go hungry, who report themselves to be poor, lacking the most basic essentials (food, clothing, houses).
The needy are those who have nothing to buy food with, not even to raise their own crops because they have no lands/no homes/no jobs, not even hope for the present or future.
These are those who have to sleep wet because they have no roof or wall to protect them from even the slightest of drizzle and rain. The sidewalks used to be their beds but with the floods, we wonder if they are able to sleep and lie down at all now?
The needy do not even have slippers or shoes, have torn or overgrown clothes, cannot even wash their faces or bathe.
And the greedy?
Sila ang lubog sa pera, sa pondo ng bayan.
The greedy are those who profit at the expense of the needy, who flagrantly spend pocketed public funds as if these were theirs, those feeling so entitled to their “wealth” to their so-called “fruit of their hard work.”
While millions of the needy barely have any money or food per day, the greedy are those who flaunt spending more than half a million pesos for just one dinner!
Where most needy are barefoot, the greedy are those who post their branded shoes and bags, too many for them to wear in their lifetime!
Where the most needy can barely walk because of poverty and hunger, the greedy are those who display 40 or more of their extravagant imported luxury cars!
While the needy have no roof or wall or houses to shelter them from the heat and rains, the greedy are those with buildings to display and protect their luxury cars!
Why have the greedy been allowed to thrive in the midst of the needy millions?
How long must the needy have to bear the excesses and abuse of the greedy?
Shouldn’t there be a limit to greed, to wealth amidst so much needy and poor?
Public fury and anger are building up each day, the Senate hearing now among the most-watched teledrama.
Will the abusive greedy be charged with plunder, with economic sabotage, jailed and duly punished soon?
Will the public funds stolen through corruption be returned to meet the essentials of the needy?
Will the cleansing reach of justice cover the entire country and all government units and agencies, national and local, including those in the executive, legislative and judiciary branches?
Will there be anyone left in government to pursue the investigation and punishment due the offending, abusive and corrupt greedy?
Meanwhile, we continue to choose, and we hope you join us, to proceed in full faith and hope that God will touch the few but genuine honest public servants to render justice soonest vs the greedy for the sake of the needy.
We choose to believe in our people who will not tolerate more abuse and corruption.
Public fury and outrage are now palpable. Will this public anger accelerate into another people power like what is happening now in Indonesia?
Naay karma, gaba for the abusive and God’s divine justice for the needy in His time, in His way.
