Bodega ni-raid sa Parañaque: P85 milyong frozen products samsam

MANILA, Philippines — Umaabot sa P85 milyong halaga ng mga hinihinalang smuggled poultry products mula sa China ang nakum­piska ng mga tauhan ng Customs Intelligence and Investigation Ser­vice-Manila Internatio­nal Container Port (CIIS-MICP) sa ginawang pagsalakay sa isang bodega sa Parañaque City, ayon sa Bureau of Customs (BOC) kahapon.

Sinabi ni BOC Commissioner Bien Rubio na isinilbi ng mga tauhan ng CIIS-MICP ang Letter of Authority (LOA), na kanyang inilabas, at dito nadiskubreng nag-iimbak ng iba’t ibang poultry products na hinihinalang walang kaukulang customs duties at taxes sa naturang bodega.

“The audacity of these people to smuggle and hide agricultural products right in the heart of Metro Manila is beyond me. They belittle our laws and make a mockery of our hardworking Customs agents by thinking they can operate these illegal activities just a few kilometers from our port,” ani Rubio.

Ayon naman kay BOC-CIIS Director Verne Enciso, sa pakikipagtulungan sa MICP, Department of Agriculture Inspectorate and Enforcement (DAIE) at Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), nadiskubre ng composite team ang mga frozen duck meat, frozen chicken meat, frozen pork meat, frozen food items na may Chinese markings, at assorted food and be­verage na may foreign markings sa bodega na hindi pa tinukoy ang nagmamay-ari nito.

“The initial inventory found that these poultry products will amount to about P85 million in the market. But we’re still determining the actual cost once final inventory is conducted by our examiners,” pahayag ni Enciso.

Habang hindi pa natatapos ang final inventory, sinabi ni Intelligence Group Deputy Commissioner Juvymax Uy na pansamantalang ipa-padlocked at isiselyo ang warehouse upang protektahan ang mga subjected goods.

Binigyan ang mga may-ari ng bodega ng 15 araw upang makapagprisinta ng mga kaukulang dokumento. Kung mapatunayang walang kaukulang dokumento, kaagad na isasagawa ang seizure at forfeiture procee­dings laban sa subject shipments dahil sa paglabag sa Customs Modernization and Ta­riff Act (CMTA).
