Israel, Hamas blame game on hospital blast

STRAIGHT TO THE POINT - Atty. Ruphil Bañoc - The Freeman

The terrorist Hamas once again disturbed the world when the organization initiated the recent unprecedented attack in the holy land, Israel. The incident triggered the current conflict between Israel and Hamas militants, which could escalate into a war affecting everyone.

Peace-loving people worldwide saw how this latest incident started last October 7, 2023. Rockets were fired into cities; people were dragged from their homes and shot dead, children chopped up by bullets, and bodies lying everywhere in the streets of Israel.

The videos were proudly released by the terrorists, Hamas cheering on the said atrocities. On that very day, they celebrated like they already won a war.

Of course, the people of Israel reacted with outrage at the incident. Israel’s Prime minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, declared that the nation is at war. They launched a counterattack in the places where Hamas hides in the Gaza Strip.

The exchanges of munitions between Israel and the terrorists have continued. Hamas is joined by other terrorist groups such as the Islamic Jihad, an armed group based in Gaza, and Hezbollah, terrorists based in Lebanon and Syria. The groups have something in common; they reportedly enjoyed financial support from Iran.

During the exchanges of armaments, Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza, where injured were treated and innocent civilians took shelter, was hit. Hamas and Israel traded blame after the blast that killed more or less 500 people.

The irony of the terrorist Hamas, which did not conduct any verification, is that they are the first to accuse Israel of hitting the hospital. On the other hand, after checking the evidence, Israel accused the Islamic Jihad group of firing their missile from the Gaza Strip, hitting the neighboring hospital.

Israel Defense Force (IDF) spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari further explained that based on their monitoring, no Israeli bombs were released when the hospital was hit. They also said that the sharp nails that came from the bomb were not from Israel.

Based on its investigation, the US government also said that Israel was not responsible for the hospital blast. In a report, National Security Council spokeswoman Adrienne Watson noted that the assessment was based on the available reporting, including “intelligence, missile activity, and open source video and images of the incident.”

US President Joe Biden, who visited Israel, also backed Israel’s denial of responsibility for the explosion at the Gaza hospital. He emphasized that Israel has a value set, unlike the terrorists. He reiterated the United States’ unwavering support for the people of Israel.

We can expect Iran, the Hamas financier, and other terrorist groups to believe the Hamas version hook, line, and sinker. After all, they even praised Hamas for initiating the bombing of the civilians of Israel.

But we pray for neutral countries to upgrade their level of analysis. We pray that the conflict in the region will not escalate into the so-called “holy war”.
