Work your plan
As we enter 2020, many of us begin with resolutions that we hope to improve our way of life. Our hopes are directed to new things, new opportunities and new goals geared toward improvement.
However, in as much as all this sounds exciting, nothing can be fully achieved without proper planning. That is why it is important to sit down and make a list that includes a timeline for all the things we hope to achieve.
In order to “work your plan” therefore, you must first and foremost “plan your work.” It takes patience and some scrutiny to prepare. We must look at the many sides and influences that can be both a push or a pull when making a plan.
While dreaming of something better is good, a dream only comes true once you’ve worked on it. And like most dreams, it is important to understand that it comes with hard work.
Discipline, constancy and resilience is key to achieving our goals while temperance, humility and perseverance becomes part of the process.
Making a list includes a step by step plan and skipping steps because we are in a hurry only pulls us back. Timelines on the other hand helps us to understand better our goals and puts a premium in our work.
It helps us to understand that anything half baked creates a problem and that “good working” leads to quality results. There is no other route to success they say but to vigorously toil for our dreams.
No matter how hard, no matter how challenging, we get up and pursue relentlessly until we reach our aspired destination. No one ever said that the things we want in life come easy. Nothing ever really comes easy. When things fall into place, it is usually after a series of struggles where only then do we realize that after much perseverance and due diligence, everything turned out for the best.
Working our plan entails a lot of critical thinking and on top of this is understanding the whole meaning of patience as a virtue.
Perhaps planning our goals sounds difficult but better difficult than doing nothing at all. There is no other way but to work on our plan.
Whether it be in the area of our personal lives or in our careers, careful planning is all about establishing order through creativity. Yes, creativity is part of our planning because it helps us become better problem solvers.
Working our plan directs our actions and efforts toward what we want. It makes us accountable and gives us the inspiration to aim for things we never thought could be possible. Working our plan goes beyond accomplishments as certainly, we do not only want to be known or remembered for this alone. Working our plan goes deeper and beyond all our accomplishments as it says much about our purpose as well as our ability to value the people in our lives.
Our goals provide clarity and working toward them transforms us. Without struggle there is no triumph as they say and working our plan makes us better and stronger versions of ourselves.
