Simple solutions escape the Aquino regime

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

Anyone interested in fine music? Sistemang Pilipino, Inc. and friends are giving a benefit concert dubbed "Path of Light" at the Archdiocesan Shrine of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus tonight at 7:30PM with a triple guitar by Jenny De Vera, Iqui Vinculado and Marga Abejo, with violinist Noel Martin and Lyric Baritone Keith Segura. While admission is free, donations are encouraged as the proceeds would go to support the musical training of under-served children and youth in Cebu City. Two years after typhoon Yolanda struck the Visayas, thanks to the incompetence of the Aquino regime, as former rehabilitation czar Panfilo "Ping" Lacson pointed out that some P160 billion in unused donations was found still in the government banks. It is not that the whole world failed to respond to the plight of the victims of the typhoon. So many foreign nations swooped down to the Visayas, making the Mactan Cebu International Airport as their headquarters in order to fly in much needed food and clothing to these typhoon victims.

Yet the Aquino administration continued to publish only propaganda to our people that they have already done so much for the typhoon victims. But the reality on the ground is totally different - where the national government was nearly invisible for most of the victims. Two years later, the Department of Education openly thanked the Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, and the USAID for helping rebuild almost all the schools in Northern Cebu, from San Remigio, Daanbantayan, Bogo City, and Bantayan Island.

I was not really surprised that this time, for the second anniversary of this typhoon, the Aquino administration literally snubbed the official ceremonies in Tacloban City. No doubt, Pres. PNoy had other better things to do, like attend a high-profile wedding rather than be in Tacloban City where he could have faced stinging questions from the victims of typhoon Yolanda who until this time are still living in their temporary quarters.

Yet as the Commission on Audit revealed, so much of the foreign funds given to the Philippines remain unspent and unused. I am sure that Pres. PNoy has ran out of excuses to tell the people of Tacloban, so the best way is to avoid being asked the poignant question by not going to Tacloban this year. In most cases, the problem we usually encounter that prevents us from pursuing housing project is the availability of funds. When funds are available, then things can be done faster.

So why do they not use these funds to finish the housing projects? If you ask me, the Red Cross under chairman Richard "Dick" Gordon who was in Cebu over the weekend, where I interviewed him in my TV show Straight from the Sky, revealed to me that the Red Cross already finished 66,000 housing units. Please do not tell me that the Red Cross, led by a Filipino is more efficient than the Philippine government? I tell you, it is a crying shame if and when the foreign donors learn that the money they gave to help the typhoon victims was not spent.

If you ask me, there is no logical reason why the Aquino regime failed to deliver the much-needed housing units for the typhoon victims in Tacloban. Today the national government is embroiled in the so-called "tanim-bala" extortion scheme where a syndicate is operating at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport to extort money from unsuspecting passengers to the dire embarrassment of the entire nation.

The solution to this problem as suggested by former Rep. Roilo Golez is for the Office of Transport Security to issue an order wherein if a bullet is found inside the bags of passengers should only be confiscated for as long as there is no gun found inside the bags. But even a simple solution to this case escapes the attention of the Aquino regime. It seems it is helpless to find solutions to this petty criminality perpetrated by NAIA security. This brings me back to what our Lord Jesus Christ has taught us in Matt.23:12 which reads, "To those who listen to my teaching, more understanding will be given, and they will have an abundance of knowledge. But for those who are not listening, even what little understanding they have will be taken away from them."

This passage immediately gives us an idea of what is happening with the PNoy regime, especially when they thumbed their noses at the Catholic Church and pushing for that divisive Reproductive Health Law which no doubt have offended God and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Now God has taken away what little understanding that Pres. Aquino used to have, which is why such a simple solution to this problem, they cannot solve.
