Tired old man

THE EAR - The Freeman

TIRED. The founder of a now defunct home for the abandoned old people in Mindanao, now age 91, recently met with some civic leaders in Davao (where he grew up although claiming that his roots are in Cebu.

CRITICS. He said “it has been the nature and culture of Filipinos” to criticize the government and the people running it. “I am one of them,” he said to our Ear informer. He said in Cebuano: “Gikapoy nako siging panaway, wa may kaayohan nga miresulta.”

SUGGESTION. Now he has thought of changing tack. “Suwayan ta kuno daygon sab ang gobiyerno. Basin mamaayo ang dagan sa kinabuhi ta,” he said. “Kaha?”replied our informer.
