A reader, one Prudencio Octavio, 87, said he liked the Biblical line I quoted here that said: "Man proposes, God disposes." He gave his own version that said: "Dios proponi, Dios desponi." In other words, God rules.

Many want to be President. Some would even go to the extent of launching a demolition job to demolish the aspiration of a possible 2016 bet. I haven't heard of anyone admitting he's not fit to be President, except Abraham Lincoln. I read somewhere what Honest Abe had said: "Seriously, I do not think I'm fit for the presidency."

The Philippine Azkals scored another big win in Tuesday's Suzuki Cup 2014 game against Indonesia, 4-0, in Hanoi. It was the Phl's first win over Indonesia since 1934. Big win indeed, isn't that?

Some columns back I quoted a reader's suggestion for the columnists to run for President. He said columnists never go wrong. They're always right.

Last week, someone suggested in an e-mail to me that a political party composed of bishops be formed. "The bishops, like the columnists, are always right," the e-mailer said and asked: "What's your take, Sir Jabat?" I said, ho-hum.

OVERHEARD: The Supreme Court has upheld the Comelec's decision to unseat ER Ejercito as governor of Laguna. Comment from a taxi driver: "Hah?" Tinuod na. Karon pa ta ka dungog balita ingon ani." Another comment: "Bitaw no? Ug Ejercito pa gyud ang gipatalsik." Third comment: "Tuo na ko sa Comelec. Ug mas motuo pa gyud ko kon ang ubang nakasa sa Comelec mapatalsik sad."
