Unsual cabbie

THE EAR - The Freeman

DRIVER. Here's a rare kind of taxi driver. Every morning the first fare he receives from his passenger, he brings straight to a bakery to buy pan de sal with. The pan de sal is not for his own consumption but for some streetkids he passes by from the airport where he hangs out for passengers.

SINGLE. This driver, known to fellow drivers as Titong, is past 50 but still single. "Ganaha'g mga bata apan wa gyud tugahi'g anak," said a neighbor. Kay saon man pag-angkon og anak nga ulitawong guwang man," laughed another neighbor. Some younger fellow drivers call Titong "pobreng pilantropo."
