Cebu’s tourism growth assured for 50 years if…

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila - The Freeman

For our special presentation on Straight from the Sky, we bring you the man who will tell us how the Commission on Elections used and misused the Precinct Count Optical Scan to cheat in the 2013 Mid-term elections and yes, including the 2010 Presidential elections. Indeed, we have proof that the Presidential Elections in 2010 was fraudulent in the town of Compostela, between Mayor Richie Wagas and Mayor Quiño, which just took so long that by the time Regional Trial Court Judge Estela Alma Singco of Branch 55 of Mandaue City ordered those ballots opened, it was nearly a month before the 2013 mid-term elections.

But that recount in Compostela showed that in the end, Richie Wagas should have been the mayor of Compostela in the year 2010. I have always said that if the Comelec cheated in Compostela, which is a very insignificant town, how much more for other urban areas with huge voting populations. But alas, no one complained despite the presence of evidences.

Our guest tonight is Atty. Glenn Chiong, former Congressman of Biliran Island who lost by a mere 34 votes in Biliran. He spent most of his time to collate all the fraudulent results in the 2013 elections including many fraudulent returns in Lapu-Lapu City and the elections of Pres. PNoy Aquino’s aunt Margarita “Ting Ting” Cojuangco in Tarlac and that of Bro. Eddie Villanueva in Nueva Ecija. Yes, I met Atty. Chiong during the National Transformation Council, which Ting Ting Cojuangco also attended.

So in effect, Atty. Chiong will give us a postscript of the National Transformation Council and tell us how things went. But his power point presentation is proof that the Comelec used the PCOS machines to cheat during the elections. In effect, Comelec Chairman Sixto Brillantes has usurped the right of suffrage of the Filipino people and therefore it effectively puts the fate of the elections in the hands of one Comelec chairman. Why no one is seeking his ouster is a puzzle to me.

So watch this powerful presentation tonight so that most of you who do not understand electronic voting can believe that these electronic voting machines can be manipulated. Worse of all, they cost billions of our tax money. This is why we are asking to return back to the old manual voting. See this show on SkyCable’s channel 61 at 8:00 tonight with replays on Wednesday and Saturday. Replays also on MyTV Channel 30 at 7:00AM and 9:00PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays.

Friday evening, the GMR/MEGAWIDE Consortium launched its new brand name and new logo at the Mactan Cebu International Airport. They held a fashion show to reveal the new uniforms of MCIA done by Cary Santiago. They looked more like hotel uniforms than airport uniforms. This shows that the group is focused on their plan to create a Resort Airport. Louie Ferrer came up with a speech that gave everyone an idea how the Mactan Airport facilities would be like under the GMR/Megawide management.

GMR’s Andrew Harrison told us a great story of what the future holds for the Mactan Airport…where passengers can use their cellphones to find out what they can do in the new airport. But more importantly, they are coming up with new technology for electronic passports where it will only take you a few seconds to pass through immigration. That brought a lot of applause from the audience.

All I can say is this is the difference between an airport run by the Philippine government and an airport that will be run by a private company. This is because the Philippine government is inherently incompetent, inefficient and most corrupt. But I recall that the New York Transit Authority, which also runs their subway trains buses and railroads, runs New York City’s John F. Kennedy International Airport and La Guardia Airport. The Detroit International Airport is owned by the city of Detroit. But this is the difference between a first world country and a third world country.

Incidentally that evening, we had a talk with MCIAA general manager Nigel Paul Villarete where before our media friends, I asked him a straight question, “Where is the P1.44 billion that the GMR/Megawide paid for the Mactan Airport. Paul said that it was deposited in Land Bank here in Cebu. An MCIA Treasury official corroborated this report, which is perhaps the best news that I got last Friday.

So now, let’s concentrate on making sure that this money stays in Mactan Airport. For so many years I’ve been batting for a second runway and the blank wall was lack of funds. Finally we have the money to build that second runway…if only we kept that money here in Cebu. Mind you, the second runway assures us of Cebu’s tourism growth in the next 50 years.
