9/11 Memorial: The world needs Fatima!
Exactly 13 years ago, the twin towers of the New York City World Trade Center was targeted by Al-Qaida terrorists using two commercial airliners which the terrorists hi-jacked and deliberately crashed into the towers. Meanwhile in Washington, DC, another commercial airliner was deliberately crashed into the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Department, and then a fourth plane which the intelligence community suspect was supposed to be targeted to hit the White House or the US Congress was overpowered by its passengers and crashed in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
There are few days in our lives that people would never forget. Amongst my age is the day when we learned that US Pres. John F. Kennedy was assassinated or the Aug. 21st assassination of Sen. Benigno "Ninoy" Aquino, Jr. and yes the 9/11 terrorist incident. A year after that incident, I went to New York City to see the site where the World Trade Center used to stand. I have been in that building a couple of times and enjoyed eating at the rooftop restaurant dubbed "Windows of the World." This is why it was quite a shock that the twin towers were completely destroyed.
Last May, the 9/11 Memorial was opened to the public and call it a coincidence that a month later, we just happened to be in New York City and we got tickets to see this modern day museum to honor the 2,983 people who were killed on that day. Mind you, it wasn't easy to get those tickets as there was a huge clamor to see the 9/11 Memorial Museum. Of those who died, this included many firemen from the various districts of New York City who responded to this emergency and were trapped inside the twin towers when they collapsed to the ground.
As you enter the cavernous underground museum, you will feel an eerie sense of awe and solemnity because you become totally aware that within these walls, 2,983 people lost their lives within that place and that includes the passengers of the two commercial airplanes, including the suicide terrorists. Outside the 9/11 Memorial are two huge square holes where once the Twin Towers stood. Today it is surrounded by black granite with water falling on all four sides with the names of the victims written on all sides.
Exactly underneath these huge squares and the foundation of the North and South Towers preserved for all future generations. Inside you will see the photos of those who died and some memorabilia. Like someone's cellphone… a set of keys, a bag, a wallet, or credit card. Small mementoes taken from the ruins of the World Trade Center. Yes no cameras were allowed in many areas, especially the photographs of those who perished.
Of course the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center has now been replaced by a single tower called the Freedom Tower. Indeed, New York City has bounced back from the horror that the whole world saw on satellite TV. But this time, more and more people come to downtown New York City, as what remained of the World Trade Center has become America's latest tourist destination where tourism is big business.
But while New York City has recovered from this terror attack, 13 years later, the whole world is still busy fighting terrorism, which has spread like wildfire. 13 years ago, Al-Qaida was the top hit, until Osama Bin Laden, the founder of Al-Qaida, was assassinated by a US Navy Seal Team on May 2, 2011. But his death didn't end the terror campaign that radical Islam has waged on this world.
Today, the enemy has become more vicious in killing Christians and Muslims alike in Iraq and Syria, crucifying or beheading them and they go by a new name ISIS! In my book, it doesn't matter what name they use for as long as they act as agents of Satan himself! What else could it be when a Muslim extremist kills a Christian because of his faith?
Again I would like to reiterate that the world today needs Fatima! Yes, I've been harping on the fact that since Oct.17, 1917 when the Blessed Virgin Mary appeared before the three children in Fatima, Portugal, all she asked was to consecrate Russian to her Immaculate Heart and then there will be world peace. Indeed, the Vatican considered the apparitions in Fatima to be divinely inspired…but until today, there has been no consecration of Russia into the Blessed Virgin Mary's Immaculate Heart.
St. Pope John XIII did a consecration of Russia, but it was not in union with the entire Catholic Church and the world, while St. Pope John Paul II consecrated the whole world to her Immaculate Heart in union with the whole Catholic Church… but Russia wasn't really specified. Hence the world today is still in turmoil. On this 13th anniversary of 9/11 terror attack, let us pray to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and convince Pope Francis to consecrate Russia into her Immaculate Heart so she will finally triumph.
