The streets of Mabolo district, Cebu City

The Cebu City Council on December 23, 1965 enacted City Ordinance No. 559 naming certain unnamed streets in the district of Mabolo. It was the clamor of residents residing in unnamed streets in the Gochan Subdivision and Tenazas to name the streets for purposes of identifying their respective residential houses.

The barrio council of Mabolo approved a resolution submitting the prospective names for the then unnamed streets. There were 18 streets given names in the that ordinance. Among them were:

SERAFIN BORCES  -Starting from the Cebu North Road up to the dead end alley on the North parallel from St. Jude Thaddeus.

TRES BORCES PADRES - Starting from the shoreline running northwest direction parallel to Serafin Borces St. up to the Fructuoso Cabahug ST. in front of San Carlos Seminario Mayor.

FELIX GOCHAN - Starting from the shoreline running parallel to Tres Borces Padres St. up to the Fructuoso Cabahug St.

FRANCISCO BATILLER - Running parallel to the shoreline from Tres Borces Padres Street and Felix Gochan St.

MANUEL BORGONIA - Running parallel from Cebu North Road, between Serafin Borces St. and Felix Gochan St.

ESTANISLAO LABUCAY - Running parallel from Manuel Borgonia St. starting beyond Tres Borces Padres St. up to Felix Gochan St.

JUANITO DIOLA - Running parallel from Estanislao Labucay St. starting on the Rufo Colina St. up to Felix Gochan St.

RUFO COLINA - Starting from Juanito Diola St. running northward and curving toward Tres Borces Padres St.

ANDRES ANCAJAS- Starting beyond Juanito Diola St. running parallel to Tres Borces Padres St.

JOSE JUAQUINO - Starting from Juanito Diola St. running northward up to the Fructuoso Cabahug St.

JUAN SENO - Parallel from San Jose de la Montana (now Pope John Paul II Avenue) running eastward up to the Subangdaku Creek.

The ordinance was sponsored by Councilor Eulogio E. Borres (who also became Cebu City Mayor). The Secretary of the city council at that time was Leodegario C. Salazar, while the secretary to the mayor was Vicente V. Pacifico. The street naming ordinance was approved by City Mayor Carlos J. Cuizon on January 4, 1966.
