PENALTY. The increased fines or penalties imposed on "erring" public utility vehicle operators (which they call 'excessive') are teaching some taxi drivers not to mess around with traffic laws. One late afternoon recently, a taxi passenger wanted to get off near but far away from a "no stopping" zone. She was told: "Ayaw lang diha, Mam, kay basig no stopping diha, dako na ra ba ron ang multa."

ANOTHER. Another taxi driver, also fearing the high traffic violation penalty had his taxi's headlights fixed before starting to work, saying (to the mechanic): "Lisud na tong multahan ta, tagaliog na ra bang multa ron."
