Girl saves a kitten

THE EAR - The Freeman

GOOD TURN. "One doesn't have to grow up first to be able to do a good turn for one's community," said a primary school teacher in Negros after pinning a medal on a grade two pupil who saved a kitten from the cruelty of her uncle.

NEAR DEATH. The second grader saw her uncle beat up and splash hot coffee on a kitten. She tried to stop the uncle but was instead shouted at. The girl then ran to the nearby barangay hall where she sought help from the tanods who responded and saved the kitten that was already near death.

ADOPTED. The school awarded the child with a medal courtesy of the animal lovers in Negros. The kitten is now in good health in the hands of the barangay tanods.
