Happy God-blessed Christmas to all!

PERSPECTIVE - Cherry Piquero Ballescas - The Freeman

Please allow us this early to greet you all a happy God-blessed Christmas! May God's greatest gift - His Son - fill your days with love and grace. May His gift of love be the best treasure in your hearts all throughout your days!

We dedicate this Christmas especially to our brothers and sisters affected by the earthquake and the typhoon. So many of them will still be without shelter. May they feel the warmth of everyone's support and concern for them in their temporary tents or centers.  Many others will miss the presence of loved ones. May they be soothed and comforted through the coming days.

There are still so many needing other types of support and as we have now and again mentioned, there is so much more left to do. So many lives to take care, so many lives to rebuild, and so many people and communities to assist.

May all those in affected areas proceed and continue to take their valiant step, one at a time, until they are able to regain closure and peace and security in their lives.

Another vulnerable group we always remember during Christmas is our overseas Filipinos. So far apart from loved ones, for so many years now, for millions, Christmas is one special moment when again, they more painfully realize how terribly they miss their family and loved ones. Christmas especially reminds them about how difficult and painful separation is to continue to bear.  After or even during midnight mass, tears will again flow for millions of our overseas Filipinos abroad and their families back home. For them, we dedicate prayers that they will be reunited soonest, their needs sufficiently and sustainably met within our country.

For the sake of the millions of our people who are in need due to disasters and ineffective governance and due to greed, corruption and abuse, may God come to their lives soonest by replacing evil with good, poverty with equality, and greed with concern. This year, let us all offer as a nation prayers for corruption to stop, for justice to be rendered to all abusers and corrupt, for public funds to be truly used for the welfare and service of our people.

However all of us spend this year's Christmas, gratitude is a small but sincere gift we can offer back to God for always being there for us, unworthy though we may be of His unconditional love through His Son Jesus Christ! May His grace guide us through our journey on earth and lead us back to Him in His heavenly dwelling.

Nothing is impossible with God. This was part of the message of Angel Gabriel to Mama Mary during the Annunciation. That is a special message we want to share with you all as well this Christmas.

Is there any special challenge confronting you now? Is your grief and pain so unbearable? Do you have seemingly impossible hurdles in your life, in your work, at home, in your love life now?

Shall we together in prayer lift all these impossibilities to God and shall we look forward on complete faith and hope that God will make all things possible, according to His will, in His time, in His way?

All is possible with God. His unconditional love for us through His Son, Jesus Christ, contains that message: that no matter how sinful, no matter how hopeless it seemed for us to return to God's home again, God made it possible, all because of His great love for us all!

Let us remember these important gifts this Christmas: God is love and with God, all is possible.

May God's boundless love and His peace fill your hearts especially this Christmas and through the coming days and years!
