Barangay tanods

BARANGAY TANOD. A retired police officer (of the pre-war Philippine police) asked a barangay captain if it was possible to let the barangay tanods "dress up properly." He said: "Excuse me for being too frank but I think our tanods are so shabbily dressed they could not command respect from the people."

UNIFORM. This retired police officer said most of the barangay tanods he had met wore unwashed t-shirts, torn trousers, and worn-out rubber slippers. "Let us make our barangay tanods look respectable," he said to our Ear informer.
