The Bridges of Labangon

MAGNO PAEZ BRIDGE

 

 

It is the bridge that connects Barangay Labangon and Punta Princesa along Tres de Abril St. It is named after Magno Paez, who once served as member of the Cebu City Council during the presidency of Manuel Roxas.

During his lifetime, Paez was president of several civic organizations. He is also a book author and composer of songs.

The Cebu City Council on December 11, 2001 enacted Ordinance No. 1924 naming the bridge in honor of Paez. The approval of the ordinance is supported by Resolution No. 184 by the Sangguniang Barangay of Punta Princesa dated December 20, 2000. It was approved by then Mayor Tomas R. Osmeña on January 7, 2002.

ABELLA BRIDGE

 

 

It is the bridge that connects Barangay Labangon and Barangay Tisa along Katipunan St. Marcelo was the son of Alejandro T. Abella, who was the Teniente del Barrio of Labangon.

Marcelo, just like his father, became the barangay captain of Labangon for 20 years. He was responsible for the construction of the bridge named after him. Marcelo was born on July 9, 1905.

The Cebu City Council on January 17, 2001 enacted ordinance no. 1880 to perpetuate the memory of a person who served the people of Labangon. The ordinance was approved by Mayor Alvin B. Garcia.
