Regular Batasang Pambansa

CEBUPEDIA - Clarence Paul Oaminal - The Freeman

The “Regular Batasang Pambansa” was then so called to distinguish it from the “Interim Batasang Pambansa”. When President Ferdinand E. Marcos abolished the Philippine Congress upon the declaration of Martial Law in 1972 and in compliance with the 1973 Constitution ratified on January 17, 1973, the legislative of the country was to be replaced by a “Batasang Pambansa”.

The Batasang Pambansa was convened on July 23, 1984 and its first regular session ended on June 7, 1985. Its second regular session opened on July 25, 1985 and was abolished by then revolutionary President Corazon C. Aquino on March 25, 1986.
