Interim Batasang Pambansa

CEBUPEDIA - Clarence Paul Oaminal - The Freeman

The “Interim BatasangPambansa” was a transitional legislative body created by then President Ferdinand E. Marcos after the abolition of the Philippine Congress in 1972.

Aside from the members appointed by President Marcos there were those who were elected by region. The legislative body was convened on June 12, 1978 and adjourned on June 5, 1984 to give way to the Regular Batasang Pambansa. A general election was held on April 7, 1978 for the 166 regional representatives. The other 42 members were appointed. The following were those elected as Regional Representatives for Region VII. They were then called “Assemblymen”:

Filemon L. Fernandez

Jorge M. Kintanar

Valentino L. Legaspi

Mariano Logarta

Enrique L. Medina Jr.

Dominador M. Pernes
