Campaign posters can help

THE EAR - The Freeman

CAMPAIGN POSTERS. Can so much campaign posters help a candidate win in an electoral contest? “I believe so,” according to a barangay official in a remote island in the Sulu Group of islands where the only campaign posters were those of one senatorial candidate who has never even set foot on that island.

POSTERS FOR WRAPPING. The posters were intended for wrapping marang (a fruit like durian) but the farmer who happened to be a rabid fan of the candidate thought of posting the posters on the trunks of trees, in his farm only for the heck of it. To shorten the story, the senatorial candidate won in the village hands down. And in the overall count.
