Manilan in Cebu on the Sto. Niño procession

THE EAR - The Freeman

SOLEMNITY SOUGHT. Last year a Tagalog (native Manilan) residing in Cebu said she wrote “officials of the Quiapo Parish” to do something about the “lack of solemnity” in the Black Nazarene processions. She said she felt “terribly embarrassed” by what she called “unruly nature” of the procession year after year. “The Black Nazarene devotees are not honoring the beloved patron saint a bit with their unruly behavior.”

STO. NIÑO PROCESSION. She compared the “unruly nature” of the Black Nazarene procession to the “very solemn Sto. Niño procession participated in also by millions of devotees.” She told our Ear informer that she was again writing the Quiapo Parish officials to watch on tv the Sto. Niño procession and compare it to the “unruly” Black Nazarene procession.
