The same names being recycled
Many food shops today offer unli rice to customers. Unli means unlimited rice. You can eat as much rice as you can for free. (But you got to order food.)

Many if not most poor families have limited rice to eat. Their unli is camote or camoteng kahoy.
***
This unli rice offered by some eateries is contributing to the obesity problem that some people are complaining about.

Mayor Mike Rama has severed ties with the Liberal Party. Whether or not he made the right decision will be known sometime in May 2013 after all the votes in the city are counted. Tee-hee!
***
As in elections past, many who filed their Certificates of Candidacy (COC) amid the presence of clowns in the Manila Comelec were cranks and entertainers. Like that one who sang the Pambansang Awit in reverse.
***
Most — or many — of those who filed their COCs in Manila are familiar political names. People in the street when asked what they thought of this, all replied: “Wala na bang iba diyan?”
***
In Cebuano, “wa nay lain diha?” There are now close to 100 million Filipinos. But we keep recycling and recycling the old names. “We gripe against recycled politicians but we keep voting for them,” says Noy Temiong.

Many of those sacked or dismissed police officers in Metro Manila are PO1s (Police Officers One). Good. They’ve been nipped in the bud before they could stay longer and do more harm to the PNP’s good name.
***
There was a recent survey that said, “hunger incidence is up by 21 percent.” Shortly before that, it was reported that the number of families who considered themselves poor has dropped. I can’t reconcile these two reports. But I’m leaving the reconciling to those who are not headache prone.
***
Speaking of headaches ... DILG Sec. Mar Roxas says (in a news story) that he’s not keen on endorsing Sen. Chiz Escudero. This I don’t get a headache trying to find out why. Chiz, you see, has said it frankly that he did not endorse Mar’s bid for the vice presidency which Jojo Binay won (in 2010).

OVERHEARD. One department store salesgirl was heard telling another salesgirl: “Mo-resign na ko sunod buwan ... Grabe nang dagku-a sa barikus (varicose veins) ko tungod sa tinindog tibuok adlaw.” (Isn’t there an ordinance allowing salesgirls in department stores to sit down when there are no customers to attend to? – JVJ)
