Sharing some friends' pain and sorrow

I don’t know how to say it, but I feel it deep inside. The fatal accident that befell Kyle, 13, grandson of my boss and friend Sir Dodong Gullas, and lone child of David Weckman and Jackie Gullas Weckman, is hurting mainly because the people suffering from the pain arising from the loss are close to me and I can’t help sharing that pain and sorrow.

I’d rather not say some more. I can only add a little comforting line, hoping it can bring comfort to Sir Dodong, David and Jackie: It’s God’s will and, as always, God’s will be done.

The newspaper reports say that PNoy was not able to have sideline talk with Hu Jintao. Hu he?

They’re again raising the price of gasoline. My favorite humor writer Robert Orben says when you go to a gas station and the gas boys say “Hi” — you better believe it.

The reported gun deal anomaly is a challenge for PNoy to give it his best shot.

Our favorite mineral water here is Nature’s Spring. In Metro Manila, they have, among many others, Absolut and Viva. In Antique, according to a friend who’d been there, it’s “Esprutingkle.” Close your eyes and try to spell it in five seconds.

Reminds me of a place here in Cebu City where some of my colleagues in media live. It’s called “Esplongklong.”

PNP chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome has ordered the new Metro Manila police chief Director Supt. Leonardo Espina to hit criminals hard and protect the people. Among other things, Espina assured Bartolome that he would crack the whip on police officers linked to extortion activities.

Hala! Those Quezon City cops accused of trying to extort money from Espina’s son better start making the sign of the cross.

Manila cops have secret codes that refer to their activities. One of such codes is “Code 2” which refers to extortion. So they have made it part of their duty to extort? Otherwise, why this “Code 2” things?

OVERHEARD. The manager of a private exporting firm was one day the subject of conversation by his officemates. One woman personnel was heard saying: “Ang misis ni Sir nahibung nganong ang upat ka vitamins nga gi-take daily ni Sir pulos Korean ginseng ang major ingredient.” Someone commented: “Barato ra man ang ginseng kon ikompra sa ‘V’.”
