Recognition for the foreign divers sought

THE EAR - The Philippine Star

VOLUNTEER DIVERS. When they heard of the plane crash in which DILG Sec. Jesse Robredo and the pilots were trapped in the plane under the sea, many volunteer divers, including foreigners, rushed to the crash site to help in the rescue effort. Some of them came all the way from Malapascua in Cebu bringing with them sophisticated diving gears.

GOVERNMENT RECOGNITION. A civic club official wants to know: “Who will give these foreign volunteers official government recognition?” They should be officially recognized, the civic club official said. He said in a phone call to The Ear: “The Coast Guard and Philippine Navy divers have already been recognized,” the civic club official said. He said. “The help of the foreign divers must be appreciated and officially recognized, too.”
