"Mapagbigay"
Until now, the tributes as well as the tears are still flowing for Dolphy. We join his family and our people in prayers for his eternal rest and peace with the Lord. Heaven must be rocking in laughter with Dolphy’s reunion with the Lord.
What a beautiful legacy to leave behind. When people remember Dolphy, they do so with a smile. They remember how he made everyone laugh, how he made everyone forget their worries, even just for a precious few minutes or hour.
He rose from the ranks of poverty, reached the peak of fame and fortune by sharing his God-given gift of humor, his brand of comedy, his gift of making people smile and laugh. And what he reaped, he generously shared. Just as he gave his all as a comedian, as a performer, as an entertainer, he also gave his all as a person, as a parent, as a friend, as a lover, as a child of God.
And that is probably the best legacy of Dolphy, for his family, for our people, for us all. Dolphy gave generously, he shared generously. Through hard work, he earned his millions. Rather than hoard his money, Dolphy instead gave back more, he shared generously.
He had been asked to enter politics but Dolphy made the Filipinos proud by refusing, by humbly acknowledging that his God-given talent and gift was not as a politician but as a humble, honest, hardworking comedian. A very beautiful reminder to those who publicly announce that they want to help and serve more by entering politics without the gift, without the sincere heart, humility, and commitment to serve God and people. Dolphy, with his brand of comedy, served our country, our people and God simply, humbly, beautifully by acknowledging his gift and ability and sharing this with all.
Dolphy knew our people very well, especially the poor. Once in his past, he himself was one of them. He knew the pains, the challenges of being poor. He also knew the meaning of hard work and he relished the rewards of dedication and commitment. He also showed us all how to be thankful and how to pass forward blessings and graces with all, by giving and sharing generously, even to a fault.
Dolphy also leaves us the important lesson about the lasting joy of friendship, love, and relationships. Dolphy leaves behind so much legacy of essentials of life and living - smile, laughter, generosity, friendship, love, and relationship- among others.
Dolphy will certainly live on in the hearts of our people. More than a comedian, he left us all the beautiful legacy of sharing and sharing generously with as many as are sent our way. Dolphy taught us how to share whatever we have, whenever we can. He shared his God-given gift of making people smile and laugh. He shared his God-given blessings to make life easier for those he could share with.
Dolphy shared humbly, generously and he made us all smile and laugh. Dolphy reminded us to remember that we are humans, that despite challenges and faults, we can have laughter, joy, love in our lives by sharing, by giving back (or forward) love and grace generously.
Dolphy will continue to be celebrated, always remembered for having shared his time and talent to remind us to laugh, but more importantly, to be mapagbigay.
More than receiving, it is always refreshing to be reminded that giving, sharing is always better, far more noble, almost divine, an act that God taught us when He gave, when He shared His only Son that all of us may be saved.
