He who is without sin let him cast the 1st stone

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila -

It was undoubtedly a tumultuous albeit historic May 22nd at the Senate when after his testimony, Supreme Court Chief Justice Renato Corona suddenly made a quick exit, excusing himself to the utter shock of the Senator Judges, who demanded that he return immediately to the Senate floor or risk having his lengthy testimony stricken off as if he did not say a single word. But later it turned out that CJ Corona was already having a bout of hypoglycemia for he is a diabetic and reports says that he skipped lunch.

The pro-P-Noy media suddenly pounced on that hasty exit without acknowledging the state of health of CJ Corona. Shame on them! Some even gave parallels to the wheelchair bound former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, which in my book is a bankrupt commentary. What has become to these people who profess to be Catholics or Christians? They themselves have become so un-Christian in their ways… I would dare say that they have become our modern day Pharisees.

What happened to CJ Corona in the Senate floor was not part of his script. Remember that adage that a picture paints a thousand words? We all saw the face of CJ Corona, so full of emotion, so stressed out… something had to give. No one should be subjected to that kind of spectacle that CJ Corona went through. I’m a diabetic myself and I know what it is like when I’m having a hypoglycemic attack, where you feel woozy, confused and your health deteriorating right before your eyes, you cannot predict what you want to do and simply end up with your systems shutting down.

Meanwhile, early morning yesterday, we got the reports from Supreme Court Administrator Midas Marquez that the Chief Justice was taken to the ICU as his Troponin level had dropped, which could indicate a mild heart attack. As of my sending this column to The STAR, I have no way of knowing whether the Chief Justice would be strong enough to return to the Senate so they can resume the trial. My last check on TV, he was still not in the Senate hall, so I guess the hearing would have to be postponed.

Meanwhile depending on which side you are on…CJ Corona’s last testimony about that conditional waiver that he signed in front of the Senator Judges has been praised or condemned. Those who condemn it say that the 188 Congressmen and Senator Franklin Drilon are not being accused of corruption, so there is no need for them to sign it. But in my book, it was perhaps the greatest challenge that the Chief Justice posed… not just for those accusing him of corruption, but also for the entire political establishment that has long been known to live on their pork barrels to the detriment of the economic growth and development of our country.

A great number of the Filipino people listened on radio or watched the TV coverage of that historic day. As the surveys have shown… most Filipinos are honest and only a few are corrupt. Hence what the Chief Justice has done was to reach out to those who accused him to open up also their bank accounts to prove that they as the accusers of the Chief Justice are spotlessly clean. As our Lord Jesus said, “He who is without sin… let him cast the first stone.” But given the initial response to the challenge or invitation by the Chief Justice… I doubt if the 188 Congressmen and women or Sen. Franklin Drilon would dare sign those bank waivers. They’re nothing but hypocrites!

For sure our readers have already seen, heard or read the testimony of the Chief Justice and are able to decipher whether the Chief Justice is telling the truth or not. Come now… who among you would dare wash your dirty linen in public? This is what we saw when CJ Corona talked about the family feud on the Basa-Guidote properties. We know too well that many landed families end up quarreling over their properties and the Chief Justice is right… this is why many lawyers get rich thanks to the litigation.

But perhaps the more sinister revelation that the Chief Justice mentioned was the links of Pres. Benigno “PNoy” Aquino, III to his Political Adviser Ronald Llamas… where he said that the President was “hostage” by the left. If you ask me CJ Corona was just too polite; it is not just the leftist, it’s the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) that is now well-entrenched within the Aquino regime. Whether you believe it or not, they have never been this strong before and their main objective is complete takeover of the nation by the year 2013. Call this my way of warning you.

My sources have told me that the NPA’s are already well placed around Metro Manila, ready to pounce on a moment’s notice. This is a scenario that even the Americans are not thinking of because Communism after all is already passé’ hence their focus is terrorism. But if the situation deteriorates further, who knows we could wake up one day with the Aquino Regime removed and the Communist taking over the land. Call it far-fetch, but you better believe that the first country to recognize a communist Philippines would be China. This is why suddenly we’re having trouble with China.
