The centenarian's prize

- The Ear -

THAT PRIZE FOR THE 100-YEAR-OLDS. A vernacular literary writer has suggested that the P100,000 prize for anyone reaching the age of 100 years be broken down into P20,000 for the 80-year-olds, P20,000 for the 70-year-olds, and P60,000 for the centenarians. He said: “Bisan ang pag-abot lang sa 80 anyos lisud na… ug kon ihatag tanan ang P100,000 sa nag edad og 100 anyos, pipila ra ang makadawat sa mao nga kantidad. Lisud abton ang 100 anyos.”

PEANUTS. A Filipino member of the Japanese-Asian Brother Society told an Ear informer that P100,000 for a 100-year-old is peanuts compared to what the centenarian Japanese is receiving for his/her birthday gift. The gift amounts to about half a million pesos in Phl money.
