Another Philstar columnist William M. Esposo has commented on the hair style of at least two prominent people in the impeachment trial. That of lead defense lawyer Serafin Cuevas and that of Rep. Toby Tiangco. He calls them “bad hair” and if you’re a regular watcher of the trial’s TV coverage you don’t have to ask why.

San Miguel Brewery and Asia Brewery are one in their fight against “sin”. They call the excise tax for beer a sin and in effect the imposition of the tax on beer is a sinful act.

Of course, that’s not what the general business community mean when they call the “sin tax” that. It’s a tax on products like alcoholic drinks and cigarettes which to put it bluntly enhances vice among some people.

The Phl Azkals failed to continue their winning ways in the AFC Challenge Cup in Kathmandu after they were beaten by Turkmenistan, 2-1. The Azkals led 1-nil in the first half of that game. So, okay, they were booted out of the race to the finals.

But Azkals loyalists say that’s better than having been kicked out in the earlier part of the Challenge Cup. “It’s still a showing worthy of praise,” says Lenore Mosqueda. “Let’s be honest,” she tells me, “you never thought the Azkals would beat India and Turkistan (what’s that country again?), did you?”
