Wiping the image for a fee

CEBUANO DEVOTEE.A Cebuano devotee of the Black Nazarene who has been a Manila resident for some years said he has never failed to wipe his hand towel on the image of the Black Nazarene of Quiapo. "Pero dili ko makiglamok-lamok sa ubang debotos," he said. "Naay daghan diha nga magpabayad, sila mo pahid sa tuwalya."

LIKE THE CANDLE VENDORS. He said these men who are paid to wipe hand towels on the Black Nazarene are like some of our candle vendors who would do the sinulog in behalf of the candle buyers. "OK lang na in both cases, God understands," he said.
