A family of carolers

- The Ear -

EARLY BIRD. A family of three from a mountain barangay in Dalaguete started its 2011 Christmas caroling in mid-November hoping to end its “Daygon sa Senyor” by the end of the year. “Amo ning tinuig nga halad kang Niño Hesus,” the head of the family said to some greeters in Argao. The family has been doing this for five years now. The only child of the family, 14, started going with the parents at age nine.

ON FOOT. The trio (called by some as “Sagrada Pamilya” of sorts) do the caroling from barangay to barangay on foot. “It takes them quite a time to finish caroling in a barangay because they sing the old-fashioned panaygon,” said an Ear source. “Ang kaagi ni Maria ug Jose ilang isugilon sa ilang kanta.”
