Mean Boys (reference to movie Mean Girls)
Dear Editor,
That’s it, Joy Young has gone over and beyond the board and I don’t think he would be able to recover any respect that any righteous person ever had for him unless he emulates Mother Theresa for the next 30 years of his life or so.
All these name-callings and bad mouthings against the Mayor is not befitting a local government official let alone a Vice Mayor! I can’t believe I used to believe and praise him who delivered speeches on graduations pushing the youth to succeed and strive against all adversity? A Jekyl and a Hyde!
What has he been fed that he now can’t stop spewing scathing words reminiscent of a fishmonger’s wife hurled against the Mayor? I thought it was bad enough that the former mayor berates the current one at every single chance he gets in public or otherwise.
But at least I think Tomas Osmeña earned a bit of a right considering Mike Rama was his protege and I guess he has always expected the latter to be his puppet cum lapdog forever considering in the former’s own convoluted mind, “he made him.”
But what is Young’s justification in his utter cruelty and meanness to the mayor whose idea of a budget might be borderline delusional or perhaps a vision too advanced for a third country local government like Cebu. To call it a joke is as good as spitting in the Mayor’s face and giving him the finger afterwards.
The giving of monetary benefits to Senior Citizens, why should it matter whose idea it was and who started it? Isn’t it good that the current mayor has adapted previous projects that are effective?
Isn’t the Mayor supposed to protect the coffers of the city and hasn’t he the right to question and delay the payment of more than 100 million pesos to a citizen whose land was supposedly donated to be used as a public road but whose heirs are now claiming compensation?
Why does Young twist every gallant project or proposal of the mayor into something grotesque instead of seen at a positive angle when most of these clearly has merits.
But on one hand, why doesn’t the mayor strive to defend his honor? As I see it, no one is going to, he has to do the dirty job himself and restore a bit of his self-respect to show the public a reason to give him the confidence vote because it is slowly sliding down from him. He is in a Pinoy soap, people want to see a hero, not a silent victim.
This has gone all too- “showbizy” and it is more than embarrassing to be a Cebuano who have voted for these people. I thought I had made good choices but these indecent acts of the people governing my city just strengthens my resolve to never repeat the same voting mistake again.
If Young’s other party-mates can’t stop him or won’t stop themselves from bullying the now seemingly hapless Mayor, I swear I will never again vote for people running under the helm of BO-PK. I would not only do that but I would convince my family and friends to do the same.
This is worse than a bad scandalous Big Brother episode. The Cebu City government has turned into the typical highschool where bullies and queen bees abound and there’s no stopping them except by shoving them under a moving bus.
Sincerely yours,
Maria Clara E. Ricamora
