We're wasting billions and they call us poor

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

A six-month-old baby was hurt when her yaya accidentally poured hot water on the baby. Yayas should be told that how water is hot.

The mayor is mad at those who accused him of showing a dirty finger. And why not? He washes his fingers clean.

At the Senate hearings, they talk of millions and billions of pesos in corruption cases. And they call this nation poor?

***

Retiring government officials, especially in the military, receive millions when they go home to roost. And nobody is calling us rich.

Our fighting senators can also be polite and respectful to some people they summon to their chamber. They proved this when they called the bishops to the hearing on the PCSO scam. The bishops left unscathed.

There’s no truth to the rumor that the senate president had told his peers: “God is watching us.”

I just read an article where a Malaysian scholar was quoted as saying that the Philippines has a “hugely different culture” compared to the other members of the ASEAN. He called PHL a “Western country in an Asian setting.”

***

This Malaysian scholar (his name is not mentioned in the article) said Filipinos have Western names (American and/or Spanish), they speak English though “tainted with a sprinkling” of local dialects, etc.” He also said Filipinos are won’t to say “Thank you” or “Thanks a lot” more often than they say “Salamat,” their own word. He observed that even the names of businesses are in English.
