Reviving the harana as a cultural heritage

HARANISTA. A group of senior citizens who call themselves “Haranistas Before” have finalized a plan to revive the harana as cultural heritage of the Cebuanos. A meeting of young men was held recently during which a seminar on serenading was conducted by seniors who claim to have won their wives through the harana.

LOVE SONGS. The young men, most of whom have “girl crushes” in their barangays were advised what songs to sing and the appropriate time to do the serenading. Good manners and right conduct were also stressed during the seminar. “Let’s revive this old romance through love songs,” said the initiator of this cultural project.
