Beggars on board PUJs

- The Ear -

BEGGARS ON BOARD. The Christmas season is over. The children carolers who did their thing on board passenger jeepneys have come to roost, so to speak. But grownup beggars have taken over. An Ear informer said on two separate occasions the PUJs he rode in had beggars on board. “Mga bayong-bayong,” he said. “They came in pairs.”

FEARSOME. The Ear informer said the beggars on board the PUJ he rode in on those occasions looked fearsome and one of them snatched the baseball cap of a passenger. “I tried to call the police,” said the cap owner but changed his mind. “Usik ra ... by the time I would have contacted the police, dili na igkita katong mga kuwanggol,” he said.
