Verbal exchanges onboard a passenger jeep

- The Ear -

SMOKING. A grade school pupil, maybe a third grader, upon seeing the PUJ driver smoking a cigarette said: “Hala nanigarilyo, dakpon baya ang manigarilyo sa jeep.” The driver hearing what the child said, shouted at his conductor. “Pahiluma ra gud nang bataa. Tamparusa kon di mohilum.” Scared, the pupil kept quiet.

CHALLENGED. A big hunk of a male passenger, who looked like a bully, dared the conductor: “Sige bi tamparusa ang bata kay bawsan tika’g kumo.” The other passengers enjoyed the verbal exchanges. The conductor kept silent. And the driver, seeing the pupil with a support, tossed his cigarette out of the jeep. The passengers then chorused: “Hala, anti-littering.” The Ear informer said he had fun watching that passing scene that day.
