Passenger apprehends erring jeepney driver
TASK FORCE ALPHA. A passenger counted the change he received from his jeepney driver and complained he had been shortchanged. The driver insisted he was right as he was using the P7 fare computation. When the man insisted on the P6.50 fare computation the driver rebuffed him rudely. When the man calmly pointed out that the driver can be arrested for this offense the driver laughed and dared him to have him arrested. A short while later the passenger asked the driver to pull over at the side of the road, then he got off, walked to the driver’s side then arrested him. It turns out the passenger was actually a member of Task Force Alpha, a group deputized to enforce traffic rules.
CLIMBING MUTT. Rugby boys loitering along this private road got the scare of their lives when they saw a dog literally climb over a gate to get at them. The owner of the dog later told The Ear he realized his mutt was not as effective behind the bars of his gate as outside out and spent the better part of a week training it how to exit and enter his property by scaling the gate. It eventually paid off, the dog is now feared among the istambays who now keep away from the private road and the dog owner does not have to get up to let his dog out for his “morning rituals”.
