Pacman's fists drip with dollars

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   -

The headline says: “Guest Knifes, Hurts Party Host.” Trying to be known as the knife of the party, huh?

Big damage was reported as a celebrity’s car rammed a glassware shop in New York. It was breaking news.

If you’re asked what should be our tourism slogan, better than “Wow! Philippines,” two friends of mine from two different radio stations said: “Wow! Nindota ah” and “Wow! Lupig sila!”

* * *

It says here that the Department of Tourism is trying to attract foreign tourists by enticing them with our fruits. Like our saging, the world’s best banana.

* * *

But the mango leads them all. We have the sweetest mango in the world. Many foreigners say so, although the same foreigners also say our women are sweeter.

* * *

I am not saying that we must use our women to draw tourists in. If the DOT does that, I will have to keep my girlfriend away from the tourists. Hehe.

Going back to the mango, Philippine mangoes are sweet. But Noy Temyong who lives in Guadalupe, Cebu City, says the Guadalupe mango is the sweetest of all Philippine mangoes.

* * *

“So much so,” says Noy Temyong, “that fruit vendors in Manila label their mangoes from many parts of the country ‘Cebu Mango’ because Manilans know Cebu mango (from Guadalupe) is sweet.” Sweeter than Cebu women? Hehe.

E-mail from Jimboy Peralta of Mandaue: “Why are people forcing Manny Pacquiao to retire? Leave him alone. He will retire at the proper time and that proper time is when he gets knocked out in his next fight.”

* * *

Mr. Peralta says no one, not even his mother, can make Pacman retire. Like what he said, his fists are still strong and if I may add, there are still a lot of dollars in those fists.

* * *

That is why promoter Bob Arum is praying that Manny Pacquiao won’t listen to those people pressing him to retire. And Mommy Dionesia flip-flaps in her appeal to his son to hang up his gloves.
