Rampant violations of Fair Elections Act

UPSET EDITOR. A female editor of this paper who lives in Sitio Kamagong, Lahug tried to remain neutral in face of all the mudslinging in local politics. She does not allow posters of candidates pasted on the walls of her house because she does not want to be percieved as campaigning or siding with a political party. But now said she is upset with the BOPK. On her way to work she caught these party’s volunteers placing posters around the area and told them not to put any on her house. When she came back that same evening, she saw the walls of her house covered with BOPK posters, even with her warning to the BOPK workers. She said, “Gibadlong na gani, wala gyud mopatuo. Nabulit ang bongbong sa akong balay aning mga dagway nila.”

WHAT FAIR ELECTIONS ACT? The TF editor said that it’s so ironic that these sitting councilors should have set a better example and not violate the Fair Elections Act. She said that the opposition who also conducted a pulong-pulong in the area but did not commit widespread violations. She added, “Maayo pa ang kampo ni Kap kay wala nagpasagad og pamilit. Iya gud unta ning barangay. Kani hinuon incumbent, mao na hinuon nagpatara. Kuwang og seminar ning ilang supporters. “
