Reader praises protest vs. condoms but condemns burning of rubber

PROTEST OK.  A reader who identified herself as a science teacher told The Ear that she appreciates that there were concerned people who staged a rally to express their opposition to the recent campaign of the government promoting the use of condoms for safe sex. However, she condemns the group’s action of burning the condoms. She said, “Ngano ila mang gisunog ang mga condoms? Dako nga sayop ilang gibuhat. Makadaut sa environment ang rubber. Unya picturan pa gyud samtang gasunog sa rubber. Bisan siguro gamay ra to, apan nakita sa news. Naghatag sila’g wrong message. Basin makaingon ang nakakita nga OK ra magsunog og rubber.”

NOT ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY. The science teacher said that the protesters should have thought about the consequence of their actions. She added, “Pro-life man kaha sila. Life is also about protecting our environment, like having clean air. Pro-life ka unya magsunog ka’g rubber nga makadaut sa life sa mga tawo. Dili ba na ironic?”
