Endorsements of bets are not for free

Let me start by congratulating my boss and benefactor Sir Dodong Gullas for having been honored by the Philippine Foundation, Inc. with the prestigious Perlas Award.

Sir Dodong was honored with the Perlas Award for being a “valuable educator and purveyor of Cebuano classics, whose Halad and Museum enhanced the treasury of Cebu’s songs and artists, instilling and crafting the identity of Cebuano music and culture.”

One presidential candidate — I mean many of them — take great pride in being endorsed by big-name showbiz celebrities. Haha! As if no one knows the cost of these endorsements.

Asking showbiz celebrities to endorse them for a fee puts these candidates on the level of shampoo and laundry soap. Haha!

It’s like Vic Sotto telling televiewers to buy a brand of laundry detergent and getting paid for it.

VP bet Loren Legarda wants free medicines for the poor and much cheaper medicines in the drugstores. Loren came out with statements to this effect to counter VP bet Mar Roxas being credited with the Cheaper Medicine Act.

“But, pray tell, where was Loren when Roxas’ cheaper medicines bill was being discussed in the Senate?” asked a political observer who swore being neutral in the VP race.

“US Assails RP for Failing to Penalize Corrupt Officials” — Headline. Leave us alone, will you. That’s us Pinoys, you know.

Senatorial candidate Bongbong Marcos Jr. says aspiring for the Presidency has not crossed his mind. Maybe not yet. It was in his mother’s mind that this aspiration has already crossed.

E-mail from Triple-T (whoever he or she is): “Showbiz celebs are asked to help educate voters on the ways to cast their votes under the automated system ... But many showbiz celebs also still need to be educated ... Only the Sex Bomb girls know how.”
