Task Force for Life holds a nationwide summit

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila -

Here is the latest survey from the Campaigns & Images Group with respondents from Luzon: 2,958, Mindanao: 1,581 and the Visayas: 561. This is broken into sectors: Services-2,764; Industry-1,575; Agriculture-761 and broken further to age brackets of 18-28 years-2,499: 29-39 years old-1,530, 40-51-years old-612, 52-75 years old and above at 459 respondents.

The question asked was: “Who among the 10 Presidential candidates do you think is capable of governing the Philippines and for whom you will be voting for the Presidency?” Sen. Villar was first at 31%, followed by Gilbert “GIBO” Teodoro at 24%, while Noynoy Aquino got 20% was 3rd; Erap was 4th with 13%, while Sen. Gordon was 5th at 5%. This survey was collated from Jan.7, 2010 to March 7, 2010. It would be interesting to know what the surveys would reveal by the end of March. Clearly GIBO is rising, while Noynoy Aquino continues to slide, while Sen. Villar is the survey leader.

I joined the two-day National Summit of the National Episcopal Commission on Family Life and Human Life International at the Citi Park Hotel last Mar.8-9 on the theme: “Yes we can. Yes we did. Yes we will: Philippines for Life Forever!” Yes, this was the nationwide summit for Pro-Lifers, who were in the forefront against the Reproductive Health (RH) Bill.

You may say that the RH Bill has already been shelved when Congress ran out of material time to approve it and therefore the Pro-Lifers can claim victory on this. However, the Pro-Lifers believe that they may have won this victory, but the evil one that uses or misuses many Catholics to promote the killing of the innocents are not done yet. A lot of them are running for public office and that nationwide summit is targeting these people.

Part of the agenda was a discussion on the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines Episcopal Commission on Family and Life pamphlet entitled, “A Catechism on Family and Life for the 2010 Elections.” This was a national summit of lay organizations, notably the Task Force for Family & Life from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. But on the second day of the summit, his beloved eminence Ricardo Cardinal Vidal attended the sessions together with the Bishops from all over the country.

What I found remarkable in this group is, yesterday morning they put the photo of Secretary Esperanza Cabral of the Department of Health (DoH) and prayed for her enlightenment as she was distributing condoms, which we already know is a false sense of security. Condoms cannot guarantee its user that they would be free of AIDS because the AIDS virus is a mere 1 micron as seen from an electron microscope, while certain holes in condoms are 5 micron which the eye cannot see. This is why the use of condoms cannot also guarantee that a woman will not get pregnant, after all the male egg is only 3 micron, which can still pass through a condom with holes.

On the first day, I was listening to the speech of Fr. Francis Tiguia of the Diocese of San Pablo, Laguna who explained in great detail that what the Task Force for Family & Life is fighting is Spiritual Warfare. Indeed, the human life has become so cheap these days, which was dramatized by the drawing that was presented of a dog and cat talking to a baby asking the question, “You mean, you don’t have a Humane Society that protects you?”

How true, we have the Humane Society for the treatment of animals, societies to save the Bald Eagle or the Blue Whale, yet human beings, the most revered amongst God’s creatures are sent to their untimely deaths through laws dubbed Reproductive Health in the guise of making it Women’s Rights. But Fr.Tiguia pointed out clearly, “We do not own our bodies, our souls merely live in it… this is why it is against God’s law if we commit suicide. Otherwise suicide would be acceptable to us.”

Yesterday, they had a session on which Senatorial candidates to avoid electing into office. They came up with these names: Biazon, Acosta, Remulla, Estrada, Satur Ocampo, Adel Tamano, Joey de Venecia, Baraquel, Bong Revilla, Pia Cayetano, Miriam Santiago, Liza Maza, Teofisto Guingona Jr. and Bong Bong Marcos. Towards the end of the Summit a mock elections was held. The attendees chose Sen. Villar with 32 votes, followed by Gibo Teodoro with 28 votes and Noynoy Aquino with 10 votes.

What is clear here is that the Task Force for Family & Life intends to make themselves known in this coming May polls. They can be found where there are Parishes throughout the country. Therefore, you can see the beginnings of a real Catholic Vote. I purposely wrote the names of the Senatoriables to avoid so that by May elections, you will know who won and who failed to make it to the Senate, thanks to the spiritual warriors of the Task Force for Family & Life.
