An urban poor group in Manila has been reported to have verbally attacked the rich. Don't worry, guys. God loves us poor. Didn't He make so many of us?

One reasonable taxi driver when asked to comment on this issue, said: "Bida sad ning mga kauban kong pobre oy ... Sa'a ba diay sa datu nga datu sila?"

Don't blame the rich for our being poor, the same taxi driver said, adding: "Ang atong kapobre gumikan sa atong kawad-on." Unsa? Come again?

Loy Jurado said he was asked by Ben Ypil to contact Press Sec. Cerge Remonde and ask him if he was willing to shoulder the expenses for the Freemanites’ reunion. Cerge, according to Loy, replied: "OK ra pero nagsakit akong baga." Hehehe!

Leonardo Angel, my Cebuano friend living and loving in Manila who's in town for the Pista Senyor celebration, bought some P800 worth of "buwad danggit." He was assured by the seller – a dried fish firm on T. Abella St., Taboan – that the danggit was unsalted (which was what my friend wanted). "Pero grabe ka parat," my friend said. "... Parat pa sa asin!"

My friend took pride in the fact that ... "Didto's Manila wa gyu’y Tagawog nga miilad nako. Dinhi ra ko’s Cebu nailad." I told him to console himself with the "fact" that what the Tagalogs can't do, Cebuanos can."

Environmentalists are talking about green everything – bags, garments, food, even buildings. The first person I knew who believed in green buildings is former Cebu City Mayor Dr. Dodong Solon. He painted green the Cebu City Medical Center during his mayoral stint here.

Incidentally, it was Mayor Dodong Solon who changed the name of the city-run hospital from Cebu City Hospital to Cebu City Medical Center. Mayor Solon, being a doctor and a UN nutrition expert, introduced many improvements in the city hospital.

To Randy Alegre, a Cebuano in Baltimore, MD, U.S.A.: Thanks for your e-mail. I'll comment on it in my next outing. Till then, Pit Senyor!
