Cebuano YouTube spoofs a hit in Manila

- The Ear -

YOUSPOOF, I WATCH. A Cebuana who works in Manila said many of her Tagalog friends are asking for Tagalog translations of some Cebuano YouTube spoofs. Their curiosity was allegedly piqued when they saw the uploaded spoofs on YouTube, many of them featuring scenes from famous movies or commercials but with conversations dubbed in Visayan. Her friends said they saw people laughing so hard at the videos they felt they were missing on something truly worthwhile.

CREATIVITY MATTERS. The Cebuana said among such “hits” are spoofs of the movies Troy, Apocalypto and 300. Internet “critics” allegedly praised the spoof for excellent lip synchronization and funny, although sometimes ribald, twists to the story. The EAR source said she felt proud after her friends praised the creativity of the Cebuanos.
